Okamato Machine Tools appoint NCMT as sole UK agent

Okamoto Machine Tool Works, the Japanese grinding machine manufacturer, has appointed NCMT to act as its sole sales and service agent, in the UK.
Okamoto Machine Tool, which also produces slicing, lapping and polishing machines, manufactures in three factories in Japan, Singapore and Thailand.
With over 20,000 machines installed in 80 countries, main applications include, the processing of metal, glass, ceramic and semiconductors, particularly, in the automotive, aerospace, information technology and optical sectors.
NCMT intend to concentrate on promoting high-end machines, especially those for applications requiring some degree of automation. This mirrors NCMT's existing activities in the UK, which centre on the supply of turnkey, high-added-value installations on behalf of two other Japanese machine tool manufacturers, Makino and Okuma.
Grinding equipment sales already account for a large part of NCMT's turnover. The company has, for many years, configured Makino machines specifically for VIPER grinding of nickel alloys, and has marketed Okuma's extensive range of grinders, since 1976.
"Okuma produces internal and external cylindrical grinding machines, so the addition of Okamoto's surface and gear grinders considerably strengthens this area of our business,"
"In early 2010 we will install representative Okamoto machines in our Middlemarch showroom, near Coventry, which will be available for demonstrations, applications engineering and training," says Dave Burley, managing director of NCMT.
Existing users of Okamoto grinders, in the UK, are assured of seamless availability of spares and service, from NCMT.
