Hexagon Metrology enters into technology partnership with NCMT

Hexagon Metrology, a supplier of dimensional metrology systems, has entered into a synergistic technology partnership with NCMT, the machine tool supplier.

NCMT will install a Leitz Reference Xi CMM at their site in Coventry, as part of their Midlands Technical Centre facility. The system will allow for NCMT and Hexagon Metrology to focus on applications from high precision engineering, gear manufacturers, special geometry engineering and the medical industry. David Brown, Hexagon Metrology's general manager, explains: "By working closely together we can provide mutual benefits to our customers in the UK while developing new potential in high precision manufacturing sectors such as aerospace and medical. It has always been our strategy to have strong partnerships with the best in the industry, and we consider the co-operation with NCMT as an important step in this philosophy." Adrian Maughan, NCMT's engineering director, sees the collaboration as an ideal opportunity "to further develop and strengthen one of NCMT's core objectives in providing fully engineered solutions to customers, the partnership with Hexagon Metrology will enable the metrology element of any turn-key package to be deployed in a more connected way" NCMT is sole UK sales and service agent for Japan-based: Makino machining centres and EDM machines, Okuma machine tools and Okamoto grinding machines. The product portfolio is completed by tool holding and cutting tool products from BIG Daishowa, Japan, and tool pre-setting equipment from Speroni, Italy. Hexagon Metrology is part of the Hexagon AB Group and includes leading metrology brands such as Brown & Sharpe, Cognitens, DEA, Leica Geosystems (Metrology Division), Leitz, m&h Inprocess Messtechnik, Optiv, PC-DMIS, QUINDOS, ROMER and TESA.
