Metrologic unveils break-through technology for CNC CMM upgrades

1 min read

A major technological breakthrough that will guarantee increased productivity of any CNC CMM, irrespective of make, size or model, has been unveiled by Metrologic Group.

Metrologic, the developer of the world's leading Metrolog 3D inspection software for co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs), has integrated the new Renishaw PH20 probe head with its ME5009 digital controller and XG software. The ME5009 digital controller is claimed to be the leading controller upgrade for CNC CMMs. Unlike previous offerings, this is not a basic software interface for use with a third-party controller. Metrologic's solution ensures optimal probing speed and reduced measuring time on all applications. In addition, the "perfect connectivity and guaranteed compatibility" between software and hardware from the same manufacturer ensures quick turnaround in part program creation. This, says Metrologic, "results in a unique and perfect answer to increased productivity on any CMM". Philippe Cimadomo, president and CEO of Metrologic Group, said: "This breakthrough is another significant development that shows once again the capability of Metrologic Group to adapt to the latest technologies and provide the market with fully integrated tools, without dependence on hardware or software from other manufacturers. "We now have the only fully integrated and independent solution, and, I believe, the easiest to use on the market, which allows any CMM to finally and easily benefit from the latest PH20 probe head technology together with Metrolog XG 3D inspection software. Our vast experience of retrofitting thousands of CMMs all over the world, from all manufacturers, means users can rest assured that the system will provide a long term solution with exceptional support, irrespective of machine type or application." Iain Caville, managing director of Measurement Solutions, the UK partner for Metrologic Group, says: "We have many customers wanting to improve the performance of their CMMs by introducing new probing technologies, such as the PH20. The demand is always the same - to have a solution from one supplier, with all hardware and software being fully compatible such that service and support for the complete machine can be provided without compromise".
