Bystronic rings in the orders at new Coventry facility

A highlight of the opening ceremony of Bystronic UK's new Coventry Facility was the symbolic ringing of a Swiss cow bell by Andy Richards (pictured, right) of AET to mark the first machine order for the site.

The order, which is just being installed, was for a 6 kW Bystar 4 by 2.5 m with a rotary axis, for tube cutting and flat plate cutting up to 25 mm capacity. AET, based in Sheffield, manufacture a range of subcontract engineering components for various customers, as well as a range of professional grass care equipment of their own design. They specialise in being able to offer a complete service from design to manufacture of both machined laser cut and welded components, through to finished assemblies. AET's managing director, David Birch, said: "The company has had a long association with Bystronic, having used both its press brakes and laser machines since the early '90s. We evaluated the market looking at a number of competitors machines and decided that both the performance of the Bystronic 6 kW machine and the service we receive re-enforced the decisions made many years ago. The cutting performance of the 6 kW resonator gave considerable cutting speed advantages over our 4 kW machines with very little extra power consumption. The flexibility of the Bystar design has been well proven over the years and many of the components that we can cut on this machine, such as large box sections, could not be cut on other laser cutting machines." Bystronic UK managing director David Larcombe (pictured, left) commented: "It was a very happy moment when AET decided to place the order with Bystronic and a fitting customer to test our new order acknowledgement system."
