600 Group has taken the first step in implementing its recently announced new strategy for Europe with the appointment of Willi Gollmer (pictured) as head of its European operations.

This is a new post, created as part of the Group’s aggressive plans for Europe, and is the launch point for the introduction of the new marketing policy. Existing 600 Group European companies, including 600 France, 600 International Limited (Czech Republic), and Parat Werkzeugmaschinen GMBH will be controlled by Herr Gollmer. The post reflects the creation of other senior management posts across the Group and the appointment of locally-based high flying managers. “We launched our aggressive new Strategy in September. The creation of the new post and the appointment of Willi Gollmer is the first critical step in the advancement of our European activities and reflects our determination to increase substantially our presence in Western Europe, identified as one of our most important markets world-wide," said 600 Group chief executive Andrew Dick. "We already have significant market share in Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, and we are building on our position of strength. “The new strategy focuses on marketing a portfolio of branded machine tools, laser markers and technology solutions which provide quality, dependability, and service at their respective price positions through a customer-focused organisation. Where it has already been implemented the new strategy is producing good results, as indicated by our half year results, and I anticipate that by EMO we will see a similar increase in our European sales. Willi has an extensive knowledge of the European and South American machine tool market which will help ensure we achieve our target”. A fully qualified engineer, Herr Gollmer has a lifetime’s experience in the machine tool industry and has worked in senior sales positions for leading machine tool companies throughout Europe as well as spending several years as a sales manager in South America. In addition to the extensive knowledge and considerable depth of experience of the market which he is able to bring to 600 Group’s activities in Europe and further afield, Herr Gollmer is experienced in production planning, process optimisation and the implementation of business development programmes.
