True-to-detail 3D simulation offered by Heidenhain TNC 640 v4

True-to-detail 3D simulation graphics are a feature of the uprated (version 4) TNC 640 mill-turn CNC functionality available from Heidenhain (GB). By enabling operators to easily and quickly identify missing program information or inconsistencies prior to machining, the result is that new programs – for both milling and turning – can be run confidently at full speed, while workpiece rejects will be avoided.

The new software displays the workpiece in high detail from all viewing angles, and simulates both milling and turning operations in a single view. Users first define the blank (both cube- and/or shaft-type, since milling and turning can be combined in the same program) and the program runs virtually, producing detailed displays of the actual machining process. The 'blank frame' functionality, for example, displays the original dimensions of the workpiece blank as a frame with all principal axes. This is particularly useful with complex components.
