Record year for European machine tool exports

Last year marked a record year in exports for the European machine tool industry, reports CECIMO.

In total, machine tools valued at €18.8 billion were shipped abroad and, with this outstanding export performance, CECIMO's production grew 8 % in 2012, reaching €22.6 billion. CECIMO's 15 national machine tool associations account for 98% of Europe's machine tool production. In 2012, European machine tool consumption stabilised at slightly over €12 billion. For 2013, it will be slightly lower, says CECIMO. On a global scale, Europe remains the biggest CNC machine tool producer. CECIMO's estimations for 2013 show a slight increase in its global market share – from 32% in 2012 to 34% in 2013. Note: The Manufacturing Technologies Association is the UK member of CECIMO
