Widia modular end-mills from ITC accommodate Hanita cutters

Widia says that Hanita´s VariMill technology now brings advancements to the company’s replaceable tip modular end-mill system, including a range of helix geometries, an asymmetrical flute design, and wear-resistant AlTiN coatings for use on titanium and nickel-based superalloys. The system is available in the UK from ITC.

The replaceable tip end-mill solution features the Duo-Lock connection and, according to Widia, is the only tool available that can predictably take full-width slotting cuts in stainless steel and aerospace alloys at 1xD, and 50% cut widths at 1.5xD. This is due to a double-taper, face-contact mount and intelligent thread design, which provides runout accuracy of better than 5 micron and axial repeatability of 10 micron or better.

When coupled with the array of carbide, coatings and geometries from sister company Hanita, Widia says it can provide manufacturers with a modular alternative to solid carbide end-mills in 80% of machining operations.
