VTC-560/25 joins Mazak travelling-column VMC series

Yamazaki Mazak's 40-taper VTC-560/25 travelling-column vertical machining centre offers X,Y,Z axis movements of 2,500 by 560 by 560 mm, respectively. These axes are located outside the machining envelope, so accumulations of chips or coolant are minimised, which helps to ensure high accuracy positioning over extended operation.

The 12,000 rpm spindle has a maximum torque of 115 Nm and a maximum power of 22 kW. An 18,000 rpm spindle, optionally available, delivers a maximum power of 35 kW and torque of 168 Nm. Both spindle and the ballscrew are cooled using low viscosity oil and a temperature-controlled chiller to improve thermal stability and machining accuracy The Mazak VTC-560/25 is designed with a single-piece base casting to provide optimum support and static stiffness for all moving elements to promote high accuracy and repeatability. It is equipped with linear roller guides to ensure minimum resistance and maximum smoothness of motion, along with direct drive ballscrews powered by a servo motor for optimum rigidity and positioning performance. The fixed table of the Mazak VTC-560/25 allows optimal drive and motor performance capable of larger mass carrying, while the column and carrier structure provide optimised stability and rigidity across the full range of axis movement. An optional centre partition increases production flexibility, allowing pendulum machining of one workpiece while another is being loaded/unloaded. The partition can be removed completely when maximum table capacity is required. The VTC 560/25 incorporates the latest generation Mazatrol Matrix Nexus CNC.
