Vibration damping supports long and slender milling tools

A new range of damped silent tools from Sandvik Coromant is bringing substantial performance benefits to complement the existing range of long and slender CoroMill 390 milling cutters. Integrated dampening offers more efficient, vibration free machining to improve the performance of cutting tools working in deep cavities and pockets. The stabilisation of the machining process in this way provides wider machine utilisation for face and shoulder milling, especially in long overhangs and will boost the capabilities of long reaching tools. Reducing vibration in often tricky situations provides the confidence needed to increase the cutting parameters without compromising work piece quality. This enables the achievement of greater machining success with the CoroMill 390 - including improved component surface finish and longer tool life. A Coromant Capto coupling will provide further stability and rigidity for tools in the new range, while cutters are also available with integrated seat and hardened steel cutter bodies in diameter range 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm.
