Vario-Jet retrofittable programmable coolant nozzle keeps coolant where it's needed

The Vario-Jet automatic coolant nozzle from Hirt Line is hailed as the country’s first retro-fitted and freely programmable coolant nozzle, according to UK supplier Floyd Automatic Tooling.

The unit is positioned via tool offset data, keeping coolant flowing directly to the cutting edge as tool lengths and diameters vary following tool change. The nozzles can rotate at up to 35°.

Vario-Jet can be retro-fitted to any machine tool with a tool offset capability. As standard, the unit is available with 20 bar pressure, while an optional system is offered with 80 bar.

Featuring a brushless DC motor and encoder, Vario-Jet is a maintenance-free system that is available with a complete line of replaceable flat or circular coolant nozzles.

Only requiring a ‘one-time’ input of the parameters to complete the set-up operation, Vario-Jet can also be activated via Wi-Fi, through a web browser or app. Connected to the machine tool with a 230 V AC power supply, the energy efficient system has a power consumption of just 5 0W.

The easily retro-fitted system includes an 85 by 70 by 100 mm unit that can be fitted anywhere in the machine envelope. Within this central unit is a Vario-Jet nozzle with a 3.2 mm diameter outlet, a special stainless steel holder, an IP65-rated control cabinet, a 2 m hose set with up to 20 bar pressure, a pre-assembled 15 m long data cable, a 3 m long 230V connection cable plus an installation and operation manual.
