Vargus supplies more Widia Victory turning insert geometries and grades

Vargus Tooling UK has extended its Widia range of Victory turning inserts with five geometries and 15 grades. They are suitable for all workpiece materials, including steel, iron, stainless steel and high temperature alloys.

The five inserts introduced boast effective chipbreaker geometry and the ability to run at higher speeds and feeds than conventional carbide inserts. The 15 Victory range additional grades offer improved coating integrity and edge toughness to reduce force, friction and built-up edges. These grades also feature Widia's Alpha Alumina multi-layer coating and novel geometry and nose radius ID. In tests, tool life was tripled and cycle times reduced machining a cast iron workpiece running a Victory WK20CT insert at 274 m/min and a feedrate of 0.30 mm/rev. In another instance on steel, the Victory WP25CT insert doubled tool life running at the same speeds and feeds of 161 m/min and 0.30 mm/rev.
