Turret types rise to a challenge

Four Doosan Infracore turret-typing vertical turning centres, the VT450; VT750; VT900 and VT1100, have been designed for high precision part manufacture and are particularly suited to machining heavy and awkward-shape workpieces, large diameter ring-type applications or high volume automotive-type parts. Typical components machined on VT machines include brake disks, brake drums and fly wheels etc for the automotive sector, and various ring-type components used in the manufacture of aero-engines. The smallest machine, the VT450, has a 305 mm chuck size, a maximum turning diameter of 450 mm and 450 mm Z-axis with 20m/min rapids (X-axis and Z-axis). The largest machine, the VT1100, by comparison, has a chuck size up to 1,000 mm diameter, with a turning diameter of 1,100mm, and 1,000 mm Z-axis -- again with 20 m/min rapids on X and Z. The VT450, 750 and 900 can also be offered with driven tooling and in twin spindle versions. Optional features include an automatic door for quick and safe workpiece load/unload, tool pre-setting capability, and a range of specialised tooling.
