Thread grinding machines join 2D CNC’s Mitsui Seiki product line-up

2D CNC is now offering Mitsui Seiki's range of thread grinding machines in the UK and Ireland. The machines range from the universal GSE-A series and the GSE-B, which uses CBN wheel technology, through to the ultra-precision GSC-H. In addition to the thread grinding range there are i–series grinding machines specifically for high precision rotor screws, for internal threads, ballscrew nuts and drum screws. There is also a laser screw lead measuring machine that uses laser interferometry over measuring lengths up to 3,000 mm.

Mitsui Seiki GSE-A universal thread grinding machines are available in swing over table diameters of 270 and 480 mm with between centre distances up to 5,400 mm. The GSE 30A accommodates small screw sizes with a maximum thread length of 300 mm and is suitable for grinding miniature ballscrews, thread gauges and small worms. GSE-A mid-size machines are suitable for grinding a wide range of parts such as ballscrews, triangular threads, trapezoidal screw threads, worms, form rolling dies and large thread gauges. The largest machines in the range the GSE 320A and GSE 500A are for long screws up to 5,000 by 260 mm diameter with the same accuracy as mid-range machines. The hydrodynamic wheel bearing GSE-B series machines have the ability to carry CBN grinding wheels at running speeds up to 4,800 m/min for volume production of ballscrews with the use of NC prismatic diamond rotary dressing. The swing is 480 mm with between centres of up to 3,650 mm. Heavy duty, high speed grinding at up to 2 mm depth of cut is possible on non-hardened or tempered steel and up to 1 mm depth of cut on hardened steel at a feedrate of 2,400 mm/min with the 45 kW powered grinding wheel GSE 100 and 200-H series. The machines are used for grinding components such as injection screws and large diameter heavy duty ballscrews. Meanwhile, the GSC 100-H has been developed for compressor screw rotor grinding up to 360 mm diameter up to 1,000 mm long. Special purpose applications involving internal threads such as ballnuts up to 100 mm bore size by 180 mm long and 0.25 to 50 mm lead can be ground on the GSNI80iS machine with wheel speeds up to 70,000 rpm. The GSE 600i version can grind nuts having thread lengths up to 600 mm with internal diameters between 63 mm and 150 mm. The LMS 1500N and LMS 3000N laser screw lead measuring machines enable single lead, accumulative lead and segmentalised lead to be measured directly from the screw. As a result, any influence caused by screw run-out or sagging is avoided and it is also able to measure the lead on a screw and nut assembly. Between centre distance is up to 3,500 mm and the maximum screw size is 100 mm with a lead between 2 and 32 mm.
