Sunnen's HTD tube hone line has a 16 m stroke and can handle parts up to 1,000 mm in diameter, ideal for extreme long-part applications such as aircraft driveshafts and submarine periscopes. An electronically-controlled, 30 kW spindle motor powers stock removal of up to 2,500 cm³/hr.
The machine is designed to correct bore geometry and size errors, as well as, produce specific surface finishes and crosshatch angles to ensure correct sliding/sealing surfaces, between mating parts.
The HTD is the longest, most powerful in the Sunnen tube hone line, uses an operator-friendly Windows-based controller for optimum control of bore geometry with functions for stroke position, motion, stone feed and cutting pressure.
The existing range, in brief, includes:-
The HTA tube hone is suited for light-duty surfacing applications for flow meter tubes and hydraulic cylinder repair. It has a stroke length of 2 or 4 m stroke, can be used for internal bore diameters of 63.5 to 533 mm, on work with a maximum outside diameter of 610 mm.
The HTB's versatility makes it suitable for job shops. It has a stroke range of 2 to 8 m, can handle outside part diameters up to 600 mm and is ideal for bores with internal diameters of 25 to 572 mm.
The HTC tube hone is suitable for hydraulic cylinders, gun barrels, precision tubing and other small-diameter, long-part applications, with bore diameters from 4.1 mm to 50 mm and bore lengths up to 2,760 mm.
The HTH hone has a 10 m stroke model and can handle bore diameters from 25 to 1,000 mm.
