The variable pitch design of the tangentially mounted indexable inserts of Sumitomo Electric Hardmetal's latest Sumi Power Mill PWS (F)400 shoulder milling cutter range minimises vibration in unstable milling operations on steel
Cutter bodies are available in standard pitch (PWS), with 4 to 12 teeth, and fine pitch, with 6 to 14 teeth. Body diameters are available from 80 to 250 mm.
The inserts are mounted tangentially to provide a positive rake angle and have four Sumitomo-developed special curved cutting edges which are able to maintain a stable, smooth and long lasting cutting action.
Inserts are available to suit a wide range of applications including heavy cutting and general purpose (type R), aided by serrations on the cutting edges to generate smaller chip sizes, and light milling (type G) which have arched cutting edges.
