Stainless steel turning made easy with Pramet NF inserts

A range of inserts with positive NF geometry for turning stainless steel has been developed by Dormer Pramet. The double-sided inserts, marketed under the Pramet brand, are available for medium- to finish-turning of stainless steel, low carbon steel and super alloys. More than 110 types in insert shapes C, D, S, T, V and W, and various sizes and grades are offered.

According to Dormer Pramet, the balanced shape of the chipbreaker provides a stable and sharp cutting edge with a large area for chip formation and evacuation from the cutting zone. Also, its positive geometry allows for low radial cutting forces, which also serve to minimise vibration in unstable machining applications.
