SolidCAM2007 update boasts many new features

SolidCAM2007 R11.1 is an important update to the previously released version SolidCAM2007 R11. It provides seamless single-window integration and full associativity to SolidWorks2007. R11.1 includes functionality enhancements in all machining areas including milling, turning, turn-mill and wire-cut EDM. The strategies for high-speed machining and 5-axis simultaneous milling have been further enhanced. For 4- and 5-axis indexing milling, a new feature gives the user control over the mapping of the 5-axis vectors of the tool axis, so that the programming of multi-sided parts for 4- and 5-axis machine centres is further facilitated. In the turning module, the modification of a ‘Tuning Coordinate System’ now automatically updates all associated geometries and material boundary. SolidCAM2007 R11.1 also enhances the sub-spindle support by a new feature which enables the editing of the sub- spindle co-ordinate system in the turn-mill CAM package. A main focus of the new release is improvements in the Wire-cut module. SolidCAM2007 R11.1 enhances the selection of insertion and start points. The insertion points can now be automatically calculated as the centre of holes which have been pre-defined by the user. There are also now two options to automatically select the start point in relation to the insertion point; either the closest point of the geometry to the insertion point or a point on the geometry at a specified angle from the insertion point. For multiple chains, SolidCAM2007 R11.1 gives the user control on whether to do the rough operation and then the finish operation for all the chains or alternatively the rough and finish operation for each of the chains. To speed up the post processor development, SolidCAM2007 R11.1. provides additional functions for the Internal Post-Processor (IPP) and General Post-Processor (GPP) tools. They include a new procedure manager for the IPP tool and additional code types for the GPP tool. These new functions will help to respond faster to the demand for new Post-Processors.
