Solid carbide taps offer total tapping cost reduction

T320 and T340 solid carbide taps in grade KC7542 increase cutting speed and tool life by four times over conventional HSSE taps and offer a total tapping cost reduction of up to 65 per cent in through-hole applications. The same industry leading technologies found on the Kennametal High Performance drills, such as patented coatings, substrates and geometries, are combined to make the T320 and T340 taps the first to operate at or near the penetration rates of solid carbide drills even in unhardened, long chipping steels. The shank is ground to an h6 tolerance and can be used in high precision hydraulic chucks, shrink fit systems and TG or ER collet chucks resulting in superior thread accuracy and gaging with exceptional tool life. T320 and T340 taps allow customers to take full advantage of CNC machine power and speed in rigid and synchronous tapping applications. The T320 spiral flute tap is stocked in common tap sizes from 1/4-20 - 5/8-11 inch sizes and M6 x 1 - M16 x 2 metric sizes. The T340 straight flute tap is stocked in common tap sizes from 3/8-16 - 3/4-10 inch sizes and M10 x 1.5 - M20 x 2,5 metric sizes. Other tap sizes and through coolant taps are available as custom solutions.
