EDM developer and manufacturer Sodick has launched a compact range of wire-cut EDM machines. The AQ400L and AQ600L have installation dimensions of 2,980 by 3,675 mm and 2,400 by 2,930, respectively. The AQ400L takes workpieces up to 590 by 450 by 250 mm high weighing up to 550 kg. The AQ600L's maximum workpiece capacity is 690 by 550 by 300 mm high and 930 kg.
The Sodick compact range machines feature linear motor drives on the X, Y, U and V axes to ensure the highest accuracy and reliability, as well as absolute linear scales to all four axes, ceramic components for stability and cast iron construction for rigidity. Both the AQ400L and the AQ600L are available in standard and higher specification versions.
Standard productivity-enhancing features include Sodick's fine corner control, fine pick-up function, automatic wire-threader, wire end remover and automatic water level control. Ease of use is promoted with 15 inch TFT colour screen, USB port, LAN interface, touch panel and remote controller. In addition, all machines incorporate Sodick's energy-saving circuitry and voltage stabiliser.
Enhanced factory-fitted machine options include a Jumbo wire feeder, HTP high voltage circuit, taper flex – to cut tapers of up to 45°, the L-cut wire chopper for easier disposal of used wire, WS4P/5P rotary table to facilitate the machining of highly complex geometric forms (for example, for aerospace applications) and 8-axis simultaneous control. Compact range machines can even be produced in custom colours to customers' specifications.
All machines in the compact range are supported by Sodick's 10-year positioning accuracy warranty.
