SmartCAM v2015 released

SmartCAM v2015 includes enhancements to knowledge-based machining (KBM) and high speed milling (HSM), as well as many user interface and core application improvements.

The KBM features found in SmartCAM v2015 are said to lay the groundwork for capturing user knowledge and shop expertise. For instance, a newly developed KBM repository allows frequently-used toolpath process parameters to be stored and then recalled. Part materials can be defined directly within the SmartCAM application, while speed/feed settings can be stored and updated directly, without the need for a separate utility. SmartCAM v2015 also includes several HSM improvements, such as newly developed roughing and finishing toolpath smoothing capabilities, which remove sharp corners from the toolpath and thereby reduce shock to both the tool and machine. Furthermore, the latest closed-profile continuous morphing and ramping strategies can be used in combination with the smoothing capabilities.
