Sick powers into Industry 4.0 with PowerProx sensor

Sick says that PowerProx has the ability to detect any object on a high speed production line with just one range of sensors.

PowerProx sensors include laser Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology to aid distance sensing, proximity and object detection. According to Sick, a sensor in the PowerProx range can be used to replace most distance and proximity sensors in a production plant. Engineers can choose from a range of four sensors to achieve results over a distance range of between 50 mm and 3.8 m.

PowerProx is ready for use in Industry 4.0 smart factories. The sensors can communicate their signals and results to a centralised factory network or be monitored, re-set or taught to perform new sensing tasks across a range of applications.

PowerProx will is pitched at applications in machining and components production, with its capability to detect small parts, thanks to low hysteresis and minimum colour shift.
