SGS adds Series 43 roughing end mills to S-Carb range

SGS Tool Company has added Series 43 roughing end mills to its S-Carb product line. They are designed for non-ferrous, heavy material removal applications where cycle time reductions are critical.

The Series 43 chip breaker delivers load reduction and superior chip management during aggressive machining of aluminium where the volume of chips created can occupy 10 times that of the original raw material, says SGS. The chip breaker geometry disrupts the chip flow along the cutting edge resulting in smaller and more controlled chips. This prevents built-up edge and avoids the tendency for stringy swarf to form a 'nest' around the tool. While the engineered flute design facilitates the rapid movement of large volumes of chips, SGS adds that the symmetrical end gashing also provides better balance in a high speed environment resulting in better finish and plunging capabilities than with traditional three-flute designs. The S-Carb Series 43 is available in imperial and metric diameters and standard lengths in uncoated and optional coated versions. Ti-Namite-B, SGS's high performance coating for aluminium applications, offers wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction for longer tool life.
