Secure, reliable turning insert grade

Designed to give secure and reliable performance in many applications ranging from general engineering to aerospace applications, Sandvik Coromant has released its latest high-performance sharp-edge grade, GC1115.

A good balance of toughness and wear resistance makes GC1115 an ideal choice for difficult conditions, especially where predictable production with fewer unplanned stoppages is a high priority. It is reliable enough to machine a complete component due to a unique PVD coating which maintains sharp edges over a longer time in cut, while optimised micro-geometries produce lower cutting forces ensuring precision component machining. The new grade can be used for finishing to medium machining in stainless steel, heat resistant super alloys and titanium. It is available in a wide selection of positive and negative basic-shape inserts and the full M, G and E tolerance range for different insert edge sharpness. GC1115 is also available in CoroCut angled inserts which offer optimum accessibility in aerospace applications. GC1115 joins GC1105 and GC1125 in a complete PVD process coated chain offering lower cost manufacturing and true, undisturbed machining performance. These grades comply with the ‘green-light production’ message from Sandvik Coromant – a group of insert grades that are predictable and problem-free machining with higher security.
