Seco introduces two boring heads with Seco-Capto couplings

Seco Tools (UK) is offering two novel boring heads with Seco-Capto couplings. Both heads can be fitted directly on to machines with polygonal shank couplings (PSC), without the need for an adapter.

The Seco Type 750 rough boring head has been designed to help manufacturers achieve the highest possible boring performance. Its high rigidity design supports precision when opening out cast, flame cut or drilled holes. Symmetrical adjustment is achieved by the tool's gear-driven insert holder setting system. Type 750 is available in a wide range of insert geometries and grades can be used on all applications and materials. Furthermore, its through-coolant capability can facilitate chip evacuation which increases insert life by dissipating heat away from the cutting tool and workpiece. The Type 780 fine boring head has been designed to guarantee the machining of precise geometrically accurate bores. Its accurate and reliable micrometric setting system ensures 'right first time' machining, says Seco, but adds that it will always be necessary to carry out test cuts and make adjustments. The wide range of insert geometries, grades and insert holders for chamfering means that using the Type 780 boring head, it is possible to perform many different operations. The head's setting mechanism is precise and reliable, resulting in IT5 hole diameter precision.
