Schunk takes a turn for the better with SRM swivel module
Clamping and gripping specialist Schunk has launched the pneumatic SRM rotary unit, featuring a specially developed internal damper and a large centre feed-through bore for cables, hoses, workpieces or to support camera use.
Initially available in sizes 16, 32 and 40, the SRM's torque, mass moment of inertia and rotating time significantly exceed predecessor product the Schunk SRU-plus. In the size 40 version, the torque has been increased by 25%, while the SRM 16 can rotate loads three times faster than the SRU-plus 20.
An optional air feed-through is offered for compressed air or gases, as well as an electric rotary feed-through for sensor and actuator signals. Inductive monitoring is also supported.
To speed up commissioning, the SRM features a pre-defined shock absorber stroke and fast clamping of the end position. In addition, a marking supports setting of the rotation angle.
