Schunk modular system speeds gantry planning and implementation

Clamping technology and gripping systems expert Schunk is offering a modular system for line and room gantries that it believes can reduce the project planning, assembly and commissioning costs of gantries by up to 50%. Instead of individually configuring each axis system during design of assembly and handling stations, the user can choose a matching gantry solution from a vast standard range. Every mechanical connection element and power supply of the sub-assemblies comes pre-assembled and ready for installation.

The modular system includes pneumatically and electrically driven solutions. Stroke lengths of the pneumatic horizontal axes are graduated in 100 mm increments from 300 to 1,500 mm. The pneumatic vertical axis is available in 25 to 225 mm. The end positions can be adjusted and the maximum load capacity amounts to 5 kg. The electrically driven axis can be freely programmed and has further stroke graduations. The stroke lengths range between 500 and 1,500 mm with the maximum load optionally at 10 or 20 kg. Horizontal axes are equipped with a toothed drive belt while vertical axes have a spindle drive. Schunk offers the option of supplying the units with or without ready assembled motors.
