Schunk enhances Tribos Mini and RM toolholder ranges

To achieve precision in the sub-micron range during machining, toolholders need features such as balancing grade extremes. This is now being offered as standard by Schunk with its Tribos-Mini and Tribos RM series of polygonal toolholders.

The toolholders are offered with HSK-E 25, HSK-E 32 and HSK-F 32 interfaces that start with a clamping diameter from 0.5 mm. As an option, Schunk is also providing ultra-fine balanced toolholders with a balancing grade of G0.3 at 60,000 rpm. Therefore, Schunk says that demanding requirements in terms of dimensional accuracy and surface quality when micro-mould making can now be provided for sectors such as medical and watchmaking.

Compared with conventional balanced toolholders for micro machining, the tool life is significantly longer while delivering precision and surface finishes beyond alternate systems, says the company.
