Cutting tool and tooling systems specialist Sandvik Coromant can now offer a complete range of grooving widths for CoroCut.
Larger insert seat sizes are introduced for wider grooves, while at the same time a dedicated new insert grade adds higher performance for the toughest parting and grooving operations.
With the launch of new M and R-size inserts and holders for larger widths, the CoroCut parting and grooving programme now covers a complete range from 15 mm for heavy duty grooving, down to the smallest 0.5 mm parting widths. Both tools are part of the renowned CoroCut solution, which boosts precision for parting and grooving operations, thanks mainly to its patented rail and V-shape insert seat design.
The CoroCut system from Sandvik Coromant gives improved productivity in terms of high cutting speeds in all types of materials, superior chip control in all operations and good surface finish using innovative wiper technology. In many applications one CoroCut tool can replace two or more conventional tools.
The new CoroCut R-size is the largest of all CoroCut inserts and is optimised for toughness in demanding operations such as heavy duty grooving. The insert takes advantage of unique rigid stability to produce quality grooves up to 15 mm wide in steel, stainless steel and cast iron.
The CoroCut M-size insert works at high metal removal rates with good chip control in heavy grooving and rough-forming applications, and is able to make grooves from 9-11 mm wide in most materials.
To complement the new grooving insert options, dedicated insert grade GC1145 is introduced for parting and grooving applications. With improved wear resistance and toughness properties the new grade keeps the cutting edge intact, thus facilitating longer time in-cut.
