Sandvik Coromant releases CoroMill Plura HD end-mills

CoroMill Plura Heavy Duty (HD) end-mills from Sandvik Coromant are pitched at heavy roughing operations. Applications include shoulder milling, full slot milling, ramping and helical interpolation, in steel and stainless steel. It can also be used with cast iron and heat-resistant materials.

The flute shape on CoroMill Plura HD has been optimised via FEA and ensures effective chip evacuation when machining at large depths of cut, says Sandvik Coromant. The flute design also prevents chip re-cutting and sudden tool breakage.

By removing chips, full slot milling up to 2xD with five-tooth end-mills is possible, without compromising process security, the company says. End-mills for stainless steel applications also benefit from internal coolant.

Two grades have been developed: one for all-round conditions, preferably in dry machining; and one to deal with tough conditions and large engagements in wet machining.
