The successful quick change capability of Sandvik Coromant's QS holding system, suitable for Citizen, Star and Nexturn sliding-head turning machines, can now be combined with high precision coolant.
Small part machining of demanding, long chipping materials always creates issues with chip breaking. Accurate coolant delivery is ensured by the introduction of directed nozzles, significantly improving chip breaking and performance. Tool life is also extended, says Sandvik Coromant.
Because the system can be implemented using pressures as low as 10 bar (present on almost all modern sliding head machines), this new coolant function is easy to apply and provides problem-free machining and improved component quality when performing turning, parting and grooving operations. A very simple modification procedure can be implemented for sliding head users who already own a standard QS holding system.
High pressure coolant can provide huge benefits when machining difficult materials such titanium, cobalt chrome, surgical stainless steel and heat resistant super alloys.
