Sandvik Coromant is launching two versatile turning insert grades in its Spectrum programme. GC15 combines high strength, micro-grain cemented carbide with a thin, PVD coating for added edge strength and wear resistance. GC30 has high bulk toughness with a gradient cemented carbide substrate and highly wear- and heat-resistant CVD coating.
GC15 and GC30 can be used for turning steels, stainless steels, HRSAs, cast irons, titanium and non-ferrous materials.
Sandvik Coromant's Spectrum turning programme, aimed at manufacturers producing small batches of different parts, is intended to provide a simplified choice of versatile inserts able to efficiently machine different materials under a variety of cutting conditions. This minimises the number of different inserts needed to complete a job, whether it involves external or internal machining, rough turning or finishing, machining continuously or with interrupted cuts.
