Sandvik Coromant introduces Capto C10 polygon taper interface for long tools

In July the ISO committee decided to add an additional size to ISO/DIS 26623 standard for Coromant Capto 'Polygon taper interface with flange contact surface' which covered flange sizes from 32 to 80 (C3 through to C8).

The new C10 shank size has a 100 mm flange diameter and 70 kN spindle clamping force. Sandvik Coromant says that its bending stiffness, greater than HSK-A 100 and steep taper size 50 (on a par with HSK-A 125), means that longer tools can be used with less risk of vibration while maintaining the same spindle dimensions as for HSK-A 100. The range addition is designed to meet the increasing need to ensure stable machining with long assemblies on multi-function capability machines like turn-mill, mill-turns, vertical lathes and heavy-duty machining centres.
