Sandvik Coromant HP brings advanced cooling to general shank tools

Sandvik Coromant is introducing the HP range of insert geometries and customised toolholders, which feature fixed nozzles that guarantee a precise coolant jet flow right to the centre of the cutting zone.

At low pressures of 5-30 bar Sandvik says the HP toolholders will outperform conventional ones that have a tendency to flood coolant, while good results can be achieved in difficult materials and applications at higher pressures. Above 30 bars, the Sandvik insert geometry collects the coolant jets to form an even, powerful wedge that breaks the chips, cools the insert and improves the insert tool life. Sandvik Coromant advanced cooling technology has until now been a solution primarily for customers using quick change with the Coromant Capto, SL- and QS holding system. Now, the same technology can be applied with general shank tools.
