Rocol offers in-situ galvanising protection for metal components in harsh environments

Rocol cold galvanising and Galva sprays, now available from Rocol Metal Enriched Paints, have been formulated to protect metal components from corrosion in heavy industrial and marine environments.

The spray applied Rocol products can be used to cold galvanise metal in-situ to a standard described as equivalent to that of the hot-dip process which requires dedicated facilities. The non-toxic Rocol cold galvanising formulation contains high levels of very pure zinc to provide cathodic defence, with the zinc sacrificed to oxidise in place of the steel it is protecting. The coating also smoothes the metal surface by filling minute pits where otherwise water would collect rather than run-off. An advanced resin binder ingredient increases durability and resilience to abrasion while the galvanic cell produced by the spray coating delivers corrosion protection even when the component is scratched. The coatings can be over painted and can even be applied on top of light rusting without affecting the cathodic protection. The zinc-rich Rocol cold galvanising spray coating, which boasts zero corrosion under 3,500-hour salt spray test, takes just 24 hours to fully cure. Galva Matt and Galva bright sprays, demonstrated to withstand a 2,000-hour salt spray test, are also 24 hour curing. A third Galva product, Galva Flash, is offered for metal components requiring a permanent bright, glossy appearance with the lustre of aluminium.
