Patented tool coupling introduced
1 min read
Sandvik Coromant has introduced a new, patented coupling design.

The coupling design is based on a unique interface between carbide head and tool shank. It includes a self-centring screw-thread that keeps the exchangeable-head tight against the axial support face and also against the tapered radial support.
The coupling is claimed unique in strength and handling, and provides the stability for applications from full-slot roughing to high accuracy for precision finishing operations.
The CoroMill 316 end mill is the first product to be introduced in the new Exchangeable Head system (EH). This has axial tool length repeatability and radial run-out limited to within a few hundredths of a millimetre.
In combination with new insert generation grade GC1030, the CoroMill 316 is a high performance cutting for all material groups in ISO P, ISO M, ISO K and ISO S. It can be used for face, slot, shoulder, edging, profile and chamfer milling. Sizes range from 10-20 mm diameter.
Applications for this tool can be found in the medical, aerospace, energy, oil & gas, die and mould industries, automotive and general machining.
