Open Mind adds automated functions to hyperMill CAM tyre module

Open Mind has significantly extended the tyre mould module in the current version of its hyperMill CAM software. This now features a Tire Browser that allows the user to quickly create and edit tyre definitions such as pitch geometries.

All segments, tracks, pitches and pitch sequences are established in the HyperMill software's Tire Clock. Once the pitch geometry has been defined, automated functions support creation and management of the elements and geometries required for programming. The user can display the suitable geometry for each operation to avoid errors and this means that each pitch only has to be programmed once. A Multiple Track Support function allows a separate pitch sequence to be defined for each track. The software's tyre module supports the whole process from defining tyre geometries through to production of a segment tool. It is possible to generate segment surface geometries with trimmed splits. Automatic segment program generation handles trimming, sorting and linking toolpaths, including collusion monitoring. Unnecessary movements can be eliminated by trimming the toolpaths at the segment limits. The software also offers a range of 5-axis strategies to machine curved surfaces with a consistent offset quickly and simply, adds Open Mind.
