OGP SmartScope Vantage CMM can combine and integrate measuring processes

OGP's SmartScope Vantage is able to integrate video, touch and micro probe tactile measurement, laser scanning and white light to capture measuring data combined with multi-axis positioning into a single shopfloor hardened co-ordinate measuring centre.

The OGP SmartScope Vantage machines can also incorporate a heavy duty dual rotary indexer to provide a 5-axis approach to the measuring operation without the need to re-datum or calibrate. Vantage machines can be specified with measuring volumes from 300 to 610 mm in X, 150 to 660 mm in Y and 200 to 400 mm in Z. The units are constructed on a heavy granite base able to accept table loads up to 75 kg and the thermally stable bridge structure is made from a Meehanite casting. Linear motors power each axis for faster travel at up to 18 m/min with accurate positioning achieved through high resolution scales of 0.1 micron (optionally 0.04 micron). Tactile or touch trigger probes can include Renishaw touch and scanning probes to measure features that are difficult to image or have surface boundaries that are inaccessible to video while 0.1 mm stylus feather probes are available for contacting fragile work and deformable surfaces with a miniscule measuring force of less than 1 mg. Probe changes can be made under program control. Vantage's video capability enables highly accurate and ultra-fast data capture involving complex geometry, small features or the instant recording of large amounts of information such as when scanning intricate profiles. The TeleStar TTL interferometric laser scanning system has a 2 micron spot size and an exceptionally long working distance with the ability to scan inside cavities up to 200 mm deep and measure inside very small micron sized holes. This means large amounts of data can be captured over diffused, polished and mirrored surfaces. Domed and porous parts allow measurement of internal features on single beam configuration, on near vertical surfaces or against a steep wall of up to 80º from the horizontal. The OGP Rainbow white probe allows features on highly polished or translucent surface components such as optical mirrors or contact lenses to be measured to nanometre accuracies. MeasureMind 3D MultiSensor metrology software uses the Microsoft Windows XP operating system that incorporates a flexible 3D datum environment. It will provide single reference calibration, levelling, rotation and origin definition while having the ability to quickly switch between the different sensor types at any point in the measuring routine. By incorporating dual rotary motion (5-axis positioning), continuous data can be captured from complex forms such as turbine blades, vanes and airfoils.
