NTK PD2 turning inserts are PCD-tipped

For the precision turning of aluminium, aluminium alloys and brass, NTK Cutting Tools has introduced its line of PCD-tipped PD2 turning inserts.

The PD2 range of inserts have been manufactured from a micro-grain PCD that enhances edge sharpness and chipping resistance, while edge control is further improved by high rake angle geometry.

According to NTK, the inserts are suitable for both interrupted and continuous machining. Cutting speeds beyond 220 m/min with depths of cut up to 0.2 mm are possible, the company says.

As for geometry, the insert is offered in positive formats with the CCMT, DCMT and TPMT designations, and as a negative insert with CNMX, DNMX and TNMX.

Furthermore, the various geometries are offered with the choice of a 0.2, 0.4 or 0.8 mm corner radius to suit specific requirements.
