Next-generation 5-axis Moore machining centre

The Moore FSP 300X Plus, is a "next-generation 5-axis machining centre" based on the Moore FSP 300X machine, a proven portal-type machining centre with a fixed-position horizontal spindle and Siemens 840D control, designed from the ground up for high-performance 5-axis machining. Principal applications have been in 24/7 machining environments for turbomachinery and medical devices, world-class mould and die shops and high-end contract manufacturing plants. Unique in this segment of the 5-axis field, says the company, the FSP 300X Plus brings the work to the spindle. The spindle remains fully retracted and supported, eliminating the “pendulum effect” that can "plague extended spindles". Direct drive rotary axes are integral to the machine, not bolt-on. It comes with a full bundle of new integration services to provide “plug and play” ease in stepping up to automated world-class 5-axis production machining. These include support services necessary to get the machine up and running in – all from a single source. They include process engineering, tooling, programming and part and chip-handling systems geared for dedicated, serial, lean, lights-out or other environments. Key enhancements to the FSP 300X plus include improved positioning accuracy, a state-of-the-art Weiss HSK40E spindle, real time vibration and temperature monitoring and bigger, faster and more versatile tool changers and part handlers. * Positioning accuracy of the linear axes according to ISO 230-2 specifications is 3 micron. High resolution absolute linear scales and encoders are standard. * Housed in a vibration-damping zero clearance nonmetallic sleeve, the Weiss 13 kW spindle features hybrid ceramic bearings and built-in alarms to protect spindle and machine from excess cutting vibration and bearing heat. Together they extend spindle and tool life and improve surface finish at high machining rates. Thread milling cycles are also provided for high speed machining of tapped holes. * Additional vibration and temperature monitors interfaced to the 840D control prevent spindle overheating and give the operator real-time feedback for optimized high speed machining rates. Data can also be exported in order to further analyze and optimize the cutting process. * Optional tool changers in 48 or 200 tool capacities are also now available. Both tool changers exchange tools in under 5 seconds. The modular pallet loader supports Erowa, System 3R, Mecatool and other mainstream pallet packages and is available with up to 26 positions as standard.
