MultiDec Lube from Floyd boosts sliding head operations
Delivering coolant directly to the cutting tools in the platen of a sliding head lathe has until now, been somewhat of a challenge due to the space constraints. However, with the MultiDec Lube system, Floyd Automatic says this issue has been overcome.
MultiDec Lube directs high pressure coolant directly to the cutting edge, thereby improving tool life, surface finish and eliminating issues caused by swarf build-up. According to Floyd, it is based upon a clamping wedge design that can easily and quickly replace the original clamping wedge. The MultiDec Lube clamping wedge can be coupled directly to the coolant supply via connectors.
The wedge also incorporates an adjustable stop that makes it possible to position the tools in exactly the same position after the removal of the toolholder for the insert change. Additionally, the MultiDec Lube can be used with or without high pressure application.
