Missler Software develops TopSolid’Cam for Haas UMC-750

Missler Software, in collaboration with US machine tool builder Haas Automation, has developed and tested a powerful, specific 5-axis TopSolid'Cam post-processor for using and programming the Haas UMC-750 for 5-axis positioning and full 5-axis continuous machining.

Missler Software will exhibit its CAM software TopSolid'Cam at EMO Hannover 2013. A recent enhancement to the Missler CAM solution include support for Spinning Machining. These turning operations are performed with a round insert cutter. The combined rotation of the tool and the part result in better thermal control of the tool which extends tool life. The significantly improved cutting conditions also provide gains in productivity. Other enhancements include a Trochoidal Grooving function which makes it easier to machine deep grooves in extremely hard materials; VoluMill Strategies which promote longer cutting tool life, reduce forces on the machine as well as reducing chip-to-chip times (by up to 70% in some cases); and automatic tilting mode, enabling those exploiting 5-axis machining capabilities to avoid potential collisions with the tool and the toolholder.
