Milling inserts suit low power mills

WNT (UK) has introduced an extension to its 2011 milling insert range, XDKT 15 inserts.

With a 15 mm edge length and capable of cutting up to 14 mm deep, the latest addition to the 2011 highlight system of milling inserts is proving popular, particularly with users who are operating lower powered machine tools. The design of the insert geometry, the use of the latest Mastertool Dragonskin carbide grades, and the interaction between the insert and the cutter body ensures optimum metal removal rates without a need for high horsepower spindles. Importantly, the new XDKT 15 inserts feature the user advantages that the rest of the 2011 range offers, namely extremely quiet operation, even under large depth of cut; improved surface finish due to reduced vibration; and excellent swarf evacuation thanks to the optimised flutes and directed chip flow, achieved through the use of finite element analysis during the design process. WNT Mastertool Dragonskin grades HCN1235, for steel, and HCN2235, for stainless steel, are offered.
