Mikron CrazyDrill gets smaller

Mikron CrazyDrill, a small drill, is now available in the UK from Floyd Automatic. With diameters currently ranging from 1 to 4 mm, Mikron Tool is to launch a new 0.75 mm diameter drill next month (September) at AMB Stuttgart, Germany and this will also be available from Floyd. The 0.75 mm CrazyDrill, as with all other drills in the range, has internal cooling as standard. The CrazyDrill is available in lengths of 6xD, 10xD and 15xD and the diameters increase in 0.05 mm increments. The cutting edge geometry and hard metal coating is identical to that of the larger drills in the CrazyDrill range. The drill is capable of advancing 0.07 mm/min with a diameter of 0.8 mm and length of 8 mm in alloy steel (100Cr6) and a cutting at a speed of 50 m/min. Removal of the chips is only necessary at a depth of 7 x D. Even for longer versions, a maximum of 4 pecking operations is enough to reach depth of 15 x D.
