Micro-Epsilon 70 kHz ConfocalDT 2471 controller if for high speed applications

Sensor manufacturer Micro-Epsilon has launched a confocal sensor controller equipped with an integrated super bright LED light source, making it suitable for high speed (up to 70 kHz) distance and thickness measurement applications, including surface scanning and topography.

The ConfocalDT 2471 confocal chromatic controller is designed for measurements of mirrored, transparent, shiny and diffuse surfaces. Its signal-to-noise ratio enables precise measurements in the micron and sub-micron ranges.

According to Micro-Epsilon, the ConfocalDT 2471 offers a short measurement cycle time, high lateral and axial resolution for surface and profile scanning applications, and fast compensation of changing surfaces. It is suitable for a range of applications, including the measurement of cylinder liners (diameter, roundness, roughness and surface structure), maintenance of gas turbines (quality of bearing race) and the roughness and surface inspection of micro-machined components.
