MAP HDC 150 5-axis machining centre from 2D CNC Machinery has linear axes; micron accuracy

Rushden, Northants-based 2D CNC Machinery is making the MAP HDC 150 linear driven, high performance, high accuracy 5-axis machining centre available to the UK market. The machine has axis traverse rates of 120 m/min reached with an acceleration of 2.7 G over the working strokes of 100 mm in X and 200 mm in Y and Z, offering fast positioning and reduced non-cutting times.

The HDC 150, which was launched at EMO 2011, has been developed for high speed, super accuracy production of complex free-formed surfaces, typically required in the medical, dental and other specialist applications. It occupies just 2,060 by 2,570 mm of floor space and its compact cast frame contributes to the rigidity of the 8 tonne machining platform. In addition to the linear driven XYZ axes, which have accelerations to the maximum traverse rate of 120 m/min of 27 m/sec², 17 m/sec² and 24 m/sec² respectively, the A and C rotational axes are directly driven and able to rotate independently at up to 250 rpm. By combining absolute measuring systems set close to the machining area under Siemens 840 D Solution Line control and the creation of a stable temperature profile, the HDC 150 is able to maintain an accuracy within 3 µ. The HSK 25E spindle is 12 kW, 60,000 rpm developing 2.2 Nm of torque and is supported by a seven-position tool magazine able to accept tools up to 125 mm in length.
