Kennametal releases Novo 1.6 for tablets and PCs

Since its launch in 2013, Kennametal’s Novo digital process planning application, which is designed to save process planners, cost estimators and manufacturing engineers hours of catalogue look-ups and process guesswork, has continued growing by supplying complete tool data and process knowledge electronically. Now, Kennametal says this same intelligence is available on PC and tablet devices in version 1.6.

Among the added features is 'My Machines'. By entering basic information for machine tools, such as hourly cost, maximum spindle speed and maximum torque, for example, the My Machines button will take Novo tooling recommendations and optimise them for specific machine conditions. Virtual machine libraries can also be shared across multiple users.

Also introduced to V1.6 is a turning cut-off adviser. Now, when the tool adviser searches for cut-off applications, Novo's rules-based engine will return and rank the most appropriate cut-off tool based on job conditions.
