Iwata Toglon range from Rainford drills up to 75 HRc

Eliminating the need for EDM drilling, the Iwata Toglon range of drills from Rainford Precision Machines can produce holes in hard steels up to 75 HRc.

The Toglon drills can cut tool steels and aerospace materials such as Hardox 400 and 500, and Inconel X-750, says Rainford. Under test conditions, Rainford Precision has demonstrated the performance of the Toglon range by drilling a 2 mm diameter hole to a depth of 40 mm in 60 HRc steel. Clocking the tool to within a 2 micron concentricity, the Toglon drill ran at 4,000 rpm with a feed rate of 200 mm/min in a pecking cycle every 0.5 mm. The result was a concentric 2 mm diameter hole drilled to an H7 tolerance with a polished finish, says Rainford. The cycle time was less than 2 minutes per hole.
