ITC designs GTD2009 series taps to overcome tool steel challenge

ITC's GTD2009 series of taps, specifically designed for the threading of holes in tool steels, are manufactured from a TiN coated HSSE-PM material.

Available from M3 to M20 with spiral point and spiral flutes for the through and blind hole tapping of tool steels and high tensile materials from 32 to 44 HRc, ITC GTD2009 series taps are produced to DIN 371/376 standards with a 6HX tolerance. ITC's GTD2009 series taps have been created for end-users who are regularly threading tool steel and high tensile materials and who also want products that will work well in pre-hardened tool steels. Such end users are keen to avoid the damage that can be caused by a broken tap and the potential for scrapping high value components.
