ITC adds to trochoidal milling cutter range

Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) has again extended its portfolio of cutters for trochoidal milling operations. Complementing the existing 4 and 5-flute trochoidal ranges, the cutting-tool specialist has expanded the 6-flute range with the arrival of the 6051 series.

Developed specifically for the machining of steel and exotic material types, the 6051 series offers manufacturers a long flute length for reaching into pockets and difficult-to-access surfaces. The geometry of the 6051 series provides end users with a robust and stable platform that instils confidence when undertaking extended length machining with high material removal rates, says the company.

ITC’s 6051 series has a centre-cutting geometry with harmonic fluting to maximise material removal rates and swarf evacuation, while minimising vibration to enhance surface finishes and tool life. This rigidity and performance is further enhanced with a shallow chip gullet that guarantees core strength for high material removal rates and stability. Complementing this capability are the polished harmonic flutes and Cupro coating for fast chip evacuation.

The 6051 series is offered with square end geometry for 90° machining in corners. Additionally, the end mills are available with a corner radius of 0.25. 0.5, 0.75 or 1 mm to prevent edge chipping and prolong tool life. Diameter options offered include 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20 mm, with a length of cut from 18 mm on the 6 mm diameter tool, through to 60 mm on the 20 mm diameter end mills. The 6051 series is available with an overall tool length from 75 to 150 mm, depending upon the diameter selected.
